Our Philosophy
The Pathfinders staff believes that the best medical decisions are those that are made based on one's individual values and preferences, in partnership with one's loved ones and with the medical team. We know that the term "patient advocacy" doesn't imply an adversarial relationship with one's disease or with the medical system; it rather involves a deep understanding of the challenge, solid knowledge of available options, and possession of the tools and conviction that make it possible to find one's personal power in a difficult situation.
Pathfinders strives to help each client discover what is most important during a medical crisis, and then to build a system of support that reflects and honors it. Research demonstrates that patients who take charge of the situation and become partners with their medical team not only feel better about the experience, they actually have better medical outcomes. It is critical that every person who receives a medical diagnosis has the opportunity to craft their own version of the experience and make the choices that reflect their individual perspectives. We believe that the most important outcome we can offer a person facing a medical challenge is the freedom to not have any regrets when looking back on what they have endured.
We strive to honor philosophical preferences, spiritual beliefs, and cultural identities in working with our clients; we want your medical decisions to be as individual as you are.
